Tala Praveshika is a foundational certificate course meticulously designed to introduce learners to the theoretical and practical frameworks of tāla in Bharatanatyam. Frequently Asked Questions

No prior experience is required to start learning in our beginner level. Our classes are structured to accommodate learners at all levels, as long as there is willingness to learn and basic understanding of dance is familiar for the student.

Our classes are currently suitable for students above 13 years of age who can take online classes without dependency.

Yes, our methodology allows new students to join year-round. With access to comprehensive learning materials, recap videos, and personalized guidance from our Guru, you can catch up at your own pace. However, we completely encourage only committed students to join for the same.

Classes for the Nritya Praveshika Batch are held every Wednesdays from 05:30 PM to 06:30 PM IST. Students from all timezones are welcome to join. (Please note – This is a tentative timing, if we have more students who request an alternate timing, we will be able to start a batch suitable to that)

These classes are a journey of continuous learning. While foundational training typically spans a few years, we classify the levels are Nritya Praveshika, Nritya Unnatih and Nritya Paripurnata. Nritya Praveshika is a 12 months course and upon completion, students are eligible to take up an evaluation to proceed to the next level.

Currently, our sessions are primarily online. Please visit "Our Studio" section to apply for our Offline Sessions in Bangalore.

Laptop with Webcam (preferred) and a dedicated space in your room to practice with good Wifi Signal. Other than this – your dance attire (Kurta and Leggings/Tees and Tights), you may need a notebook & pen for theory lessons, a yoga mat for our Vyayam exercises and a water bottle to have handy. *Please do not wear loose t-shirts/pyjamas or home/lounge wear to our classes. It's important that the knee alignment in araimandi and the elbow position in Natyarambha has to be supervised to avoid errors with practice.

Your progress is monitored through regular assessments, feedback from the Guru, and opportunities to perform during programmes or at events.

Yes, students are given opportunities to participate in events, showcases, or temple performances as they progress in their training.

Individual lessons may be available only for students who are part of the Intensives. Our Intensives are structured for serious and passionate students looking to journey with us for years, especially those who are looking for professional guidance in performance and career in dance. Please contact us via email for more details about scheduling and availability. Please note - beginners are not eligible for intensives as the training is more advanced.

Yes, Bharatanatyam requires a certain level of fitness to develop the strength, stamina and ability to perform. Regular practice will gradually improve your physical fitness and endurance.
